At Sidewalk’s End Montessori we create an environment that allows your child to make the most of this sensitivity - a place that encourages the flowering of her natural gifts - allowing your child to observe and absorb the world around her. We believe strongly that children flourish in an atmosphere of love and respect, and it is our mission to create such a place.
As parents ourselves, we know you need to feel safe and secure in leaving your child in an environment that provides for all the academic, social and emotional opportunities she deserves. Sidewalk’s End Montessori meets all your child’s needs and inspires an “I can do it” attitude that will last long past preschool.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
“Never help a child with a task at which he feels he can succeed.”
- Maria Montessori
“I can do it myself!”
- any 3-year old child you’ve encountered
This philosophy, shared by Dr. Montessori and every preschooler, drives the instructional strategy in a Montessori classroom. Children are shown how to do a work then allowed to do it themselves as often and for as long as they like. It is in this doing that children learn and grow and become independent beings, responsible for their own learning. This is the secret to developing life-long learners who are confident in their abilities.
Goals of the Montessori Classroom
Children at this age are in the process of developing four main traits due to the sensitive periods they are experiencing during this period of growth. It is the goal of the teachers to assist the child in this growth.
Order
Coordination
Concentration
Independence
Watch this presentation (powerpoint or pdf) to learn more about these four traits and how you can support your child at home. |
